Flood warnings for Puyallup valley

National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a flood warning for the Puyallup River at Puyallup from this afternoon to late tomorrow night.

At 12:45 a.m. today, the stage was 26.3 feet and flood stage is 30 feet. Judging from the continuing rain forecast, record flooding of the Puyallup River is likely. The river will rise above flood stage around 4 a.m. Thursday and crest near 34.5 feet around 4 a.m. Thursday. The river will then fall below flood stage Thursday afternoon.

Forecasters say the impact at 31 feet will cause major flooding along the lower reaches of the river from Sumner downstream to Commencement Bay. Swift waters will overtop levees and flood much of the Puyallup Valley. Erosion with the overtopping is likely to damage levees.

Flooding will occur all along the river, including headwaters, tributaries and other streams within and near the Puyallup River basin.

I hope you and yours are safe, Tessa.

The heavy rains caved in part of the roof at work on the day I was laid off (Thursday). Karmic retribution, perhaps?

Keep your head up and your feet dry.
